Description:
Sociology of Race and Ethnicity will build on the strengths of the American Sociological Association Section of Racial and Ethnic Minorities by providing a much-needed outlet for sociological research on race and ethnicity. While the study of race and ethnicity has derived from a broad and deep tradition of interdisciplinarity, sociology has often been at the forefront of the understanding of the dynamics of race and ethnicity worldwide; yet, there exists no journal in sociology worldwide devoted to bringing together this important theoretical, empirical, and critical work. Sociology of Race and Ethnicity will provide a fulcrum upon which sociologically-centered work will swing as it also seeks to provide new linkages between the discipline of sociology and other disciplines and areas where race and ethnicity are central components.Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, while a general journal devoted to publishing the finest sociological research on race and ethnicity, will publish research on, among others, the following central topics: International/Comparative Race/Ethnicity Intersectionalities of Race/Ethnicity Race/Ethnicity Theory/Critical Race/Ethnicity Racial/Ethnic Identities Racial Segregation and Desegregation Concepts, Foundations, Constructions, Definitions Whiteness Racisms and Racial Inequalities Racial Attitudes/Racial Ideologies Immigrations and Assimilations Critical Diversities and Multiculturalisms Race/Ethnicity and Politics Racial/Ethnic DemographicsIn addition, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity will publish key research in the following emergent areas as well, such as: Race and Science; Race and Religion; Race and Human Rights; Critical Indigenous Studies; Race and Reparations; Race and Social Policy; Race and; Race and Work/Occupations; Race and the Environment; Race and the Media; Post-Racialism
