The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care, previously The Diabetes Educator, is the official research publication of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). ADCES publishes papers on aspects of patient education; professional education; population, cardiometabolic and public health; and technology-based needs while serving as a reference for the art and science of diabetes self-management education and support.

Founded in 1973, ADCES is a multi-disciplinary professional membership organization dedicated to improving diabetes care through innovative education, management and support. With more than 14,000 professional members, ADCES has a vast network of practitioners working with people who have, are affected by, or are at risk for diabetes. ADCES assists its members and the larger healthcare community in treating people with diabetes and those who are at risk for developing diabetes.
