Sociological Bulletin, a journal of the Indian Sociological Society, was launched on 1 March 1952. The credit for founding both the Indian Sociological Society and the Sociological Bulletin goes to G. Ghurye, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Bombay. From 2021, the journal has become a quarterly refereed journal.
